Before that, the filmmaker quietly wrapped up the Kolkata schedule of his first Hindi series, Parineeta. It was a late November evening. On the nearly deserted streets of Rajarhat, various cars sped past under a hazy veil of fog. Amidst this backdrop, Parambrata Chattopadhyay, Barkha Bisht, Riya Sen, Aditi Pohankar, and Priyanshu Painyuli gathered in an apartment within a local high-rise. Inside, the atmosphere was electric with music and dancing!
The final shoot of the Kolkata schedule, directed by producer-director Raj Chakraborty, took place on Monday night. Was there a celebratory party afterward? According to close sources, the actors played colleagues from Parambrata’s office in the series. Following the script, they were seen partying at Barkha’s home, a scene captured on camera. Interestingly, preparations for the party sequence began as early as 3 PM, with the flat being decked out to reflect a party vibe. Makeup sessions followed, and shooting began late at night, wrapping up by Tuesday morning.
Reports suggest that Barkha’s character will don a mix of Indian and Western outfits in the series, while Riya will sport primarily Western looks. Roshni Bhattacharya’s character will appear across a “time leap,” requiring multiple styles. The next leg of the shoot will begin in Darjeeling on December 2 and continue until December 6, marking the conclusion of Parineeta’s Hindi adaptation.
Sunday saw the team in a relaxed, celebratory spirit. Roshni Bhattacharya, whose final shoot was that day, also plays one of Parambrata’s office colleagues. Unlike the Bengali film Parineeta, the Hindi series significantly departs in terms of plot and tone, justifying the differences in the storyline. On Sunday, Raj shot scenes at Sukia Street’s Ashutosh Seal Lane, inside a local school. Afterward, the entire crew was invited to Raj’s home for a grand feast featuring polao, mutton curry, various fish preparations, chutney, and desserts.
In the original Bengali film Parineeta, Subhashree Ganguly played the lead character of Mehul. For the Hindi adaptation, Aditi Pohankar steps into Subhashree’s shoes. Neither Raj nor Subhashree has spoken publicly about the series, but sources reveal Aditi is pleased to portray Mehul. Her involvement elevates the character to a national audience.
